Absences
I cannot
give a sick child the attention they need and deserve. It is in everyone’s best
interest that a sick child stays at home. Please use the following guide for
keeping a sick child out of daycare. If a child develops any of these symptoms
while in Daycare, you will be notified immediately and expected to pick up your
child within an hour. These are symptoms that a child has a contagious
condition:
*Active
sneezing or coughing
* Colored discharge from the nose
* A sore
throat (with fever or swollen glands) * Discharge from eyes or Ears
* Diarrhea
(3 or more watery stools in 24 hrs)
* Vomiting (2 or more times in 24 hrs)
* A fever (temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or more)
* An eye
infection * Rash
(especially with a fever or itching)
The
provider as the right to request a child is removed from child care if the child
seems lethargic or unable to participate in the days activities.
If a parent requests a child stay
indoors, that child is not well enough to be at daycare. If a child is extremely
tired, causing inconvenience to the provider and her ability to care for the
other children in care, the provider may request the child be excused.
A child
that is sent home or absent due to fever, diarrhea or vomiting must be 24 hours
free of symptoms without the aid of medications such as fever reducing
medications.
Teething in
younger children will be assessed in a case by case situation. If the child is
showing clear signs of teething, such as finger sucking, swollen gums etc, then
an exception will be made with fevers below 101 degrees. Anything OVER 101* is
not associated with teething and the child will need to be excluded until he/she
is fever free for 24 hours without the aid of fever reducing medications. I will
not administer cold medications to children under the age of 6 unless a note
from your doctor is available.
7.
Discipline
I welcome
and encourage you to share with me the method of discipline that works best for
your child. “Separation” from a harmful/inappropriate or aggressive situation
will take priority.
In certain
situations, negative behavior from a child may result in suspension from child
care for a determined amount of time. Ongoing behavior issues may result in the
need for a parent/caregiver conference, disciplinary
actions or termination of care. Infants
and toddlers will not be disciplined in any way other than redirection.
Destruction of childcare property could result in financial responsibility of
the parents.
I promise
to discipline fairly and age appropriately. No child will be humiliated or made
example of in my care. No other child will discipline your child. Discipline
will be provided by me or another adult care giver. No child will ever be hit or
handled inappropriately in my care.
My behavior expectations are as follows but
not limited to: No aggressive behavior towards others or property, Potty
talk and inappropriate language are not acceptable, be a good listener and
helper, share with your friends and talk nicely and appropriately to others.
If you have
any questions, comments or concerns about these expectations please discuss them
with me. If you have concerns about your child’s behaviors I encourage our
communication to provide a common discipline action for the behavior.
8.
Termination
The daycare
provider reserves the right to terminate this agreement at any time for any
sufficient reason, including but not limited to late payment, continual late
pick up, disrespect of the care giver or her property, misbehavior or unruliness
of the child. The daycare will make every effort to give a reasonable notice to
allow parents time to obtain alternate child care arrangements.
You also
have the right to withdraw your child from the Day Care at any time for any
reason. However, you must give the daycare a two week written notice when
cancelling service.
I hope that
these policies will help make child care an easier, happier time for all of us!
By signing the agreement, you are stating that you have read and agree to all
policies contained herein. Thank you for allowing me to care for your child!
